Hi, it’s Alex, owner and creator of Flower Street Urban Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona. In today’s video, I want to show you how to assemble your vertical garden.

You’ve already decided on the size of your vertical garden. You know if you will use bolt-on brackets to attach to a wall, or simply hang the tiers on a wall hanger bracket.

Now you’re ready to assemble your vertical garden. In the video clip below, I describe that the first board to use will have the drainage diverter material on it. That will go into the bracket first, with the back against the wall, and the drainage material coming out front towards you.

This allows water to drain from an upper-tier level to a lower tier level, without any water getting on the vertical surface that the garden is installed upon. There is no extra vapor barrier required with our vertical wall hanging system. It’s actually built-in and includes perforations in the liner that allows the water to drip through the drainage diverter parts.

Some people are creating vertical gardens inside their homes. If you choose to do this, we offer catch trays that are placed beneath the drainage diverter areas to catch the excess water that you can then recycle back to the top of your garden.
